Every platform Shroom and Gloom is on
Early Access is a Steam release for Windows and Mac. Everything else people search for, from a console version to a phone app, is either unannounced or unofficial, and this board sorts which is which.

Status board
| Platform | Status | What that means | Guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows | On Steam | The main Early Access build. Windows 10 is the minimum the store lists. | Windows specs |
| macOS | On Steam | Same Steam purchase, with its own minimum and recommended Mac specs. | Mac specs |
| Linux | Not listed on Steam | No native build. Players run the Windows version anyway; see the Linux section below. | Linux notes |
| Steam Deck | Rated Unsupported | Plays through Steam, but Steam's own rating flags graphics performance. | Steam Deck |
| PS5 | Not announced | PlayStation was named in the FAQ question. The answer was PC and Mac. | PS5 |
| Xbox and Game Pass | Not announced | No Xbox console version, and Game Pass has not been announced either. | Xbox |
| Switch and Switch 2 | Not announced | Neither Nintendo console has been named by the developers. | Switch |
| iOS, Android, iPad | Not announced | iPad was in the FAQ question. No phone or tablet version exists to download. | Mobile |
The Windows, Mac and Linux rows come straight from the platforms the Steam store lists for the game. The Steam Deck row is Steam’s own compatibility rating, which is a separate thing from whether the game starts.
What the developers said about consoles
The pinned FAQ that Team Lazerbeam posted on launch day answers the console question in two sentences:
Q: Will the game be on Playstation/ Xbox/ Switch/ iPad/ VR?
A: The game will launch on PC and Mac. Once it’s out, we’ll look at what other platforms we want to bring the game to. Anything’s possible!
Team Lazerbeam, in Steam discussion: FAQs here!!, 10 September 2026
The first half has already happened. The second half is a plan to decide later, with no platform picked and no date attached. VR sits in the same question and gets the same answer. The PS5 page takes that last line apart, since it is the one people quote as a hint.
What the Early Access plan names instead
The launch announcement set out the road to 1.0, and it is about content: the developers wrote that “our big picture plan it to keep improving on the game, add even more characters and eventually open up the third and final pathway to The Gloom.” Team Lazerbeam, in Steam announcement: Shroom and Gloom explodes into Early Access!, 10 September 2026 Platforms are not on that list. The same post says the first step is a roadmap shaped by community feedback, so that is the document to watch; the Early Access page covers what else it promises, and updates will show when a roadmap lands.
Linux and SteamOS
Steam lists no Linux build, so on Linux you are running the Windows version through Steam’s compatibility layer, and you are on your own if it breaks. Players do it. One Early Access review calls it great on Linux apart from a bug where you have to press A or D together with W to move forward (in a Steam user review, 13 September 2026). The same workaround fills a thread that opened while the game was still a demo, where several Linux players found W only moved them while a side key was held (in Steam discussion: Unable to play. I see the "W" card but nothing is happening, 18 June 2026). The developers suggested the up arrow or middle mouse button as alternatives to W in that thread, though players there said those misbehaved the same way.
The Steam Deck is the Linux device most people mean, and it has its own rating and its own set of reports on the Steam Deck page.
Where to get it today
- Buy: the Steam store page, at $14.99. The price page covers whether that changes after Early Access.
- Try first: the free demo is still on the same store page, but its progress does not carry over.
- Check your machine: system requirements for Windows and Mac, and controller support if you want to play from the couch.
