Shroom and Gloom system requirements

The Steam store lists two tiers each for Windows and Mac, and every tier is tied to a frame rate at 1080p. Here they are side by side, with the two lines in the listing worth reading twice.

What the tiers actually promise

Minimum

Low, 1080p, 30 fps

Meeting the minimum is not about just launching the game. It is the hardware the store ties to Low quality at 30 frames per second in 1080p.

Recommended

High, 1080p, 60 fps

The recommended tier is also pinned to 1080p. Nothing in the listing covers 1440p, 4K or ultrawide, so higher resolutions are outside what the store describes.

Storage is the same 13 GB on every tier and both systems, so disk space is the one line that does not scale with quality.

Two lines worth reading twice

  • “GeForce RTX 1080” on the Windows recommended list. NVIDIA’s 1080 is the GeForce GTX 1080; there is no RTX card with that number, so the GTX is presumably the one meant. The Radeon RX Vega 56 and Arc A580 on the same line are the AMD and Intel equivalents the store gives.
  • The Mac minimum is a workstation chip. The Mac floor names an Intel Xeon W-2140B with Radeon Vega Pro 56 graphics and 16 GB of memory, twice the RAM the Windows minimum asks for. The recommended Mac is an Apple M1 Max. The listing does not mention base M1, M2 or M3 chips at all, so it says nothing either way about Macs with those chips.

One Mac player, without naming their model, wrote that the game runs a bit choppy on their Mac but that they expected as much (in a Steam user review, 13 September 2026). If you are unsure about your own Mac, the free demo costs nothing to try, though it is an older build than Early Access.

If your hardware isn’t on the list

  • Steam Deck: Steam rates it Unsupported for graphics performance. The Steam Deck page has the full report and player frame rates.
  • Linux: not listed at all. What players report running it anyway is on the platforms board.
  • Consoles, phones and tablets: Shroom and Gloom has no release for them, whatever the specs; see PS5, Switch and mobile.
