Is Shroom and Gloom on PS5?

Not today, and not on any announced schedule. PlayStation came up by name in the developers’ own FAQ, and the answer they gave is more careful than the one line people quote from it.

Reading “Anything’s possible”

The full answer is on the platforms board. Its last line is the part that gets shared as a hint of a PlayStation port, so here is what the sentence around it does and does not say.

What it commits to

  • A launch on PC and Mac, which has happened.
  • Looking at other platforms after launch: “we’ll look at what other platforms we want to bring the game to.”
  • PlayStation was one of the platforms in the question, so the developers have heard the request.

What it leaves open

  • Whether PlayStation is among the platforms they want.
  • Any date, or any link to the 1.0 release.
  • Whether a port would be PS5 only, or come with PS4.
  • Who would make it, the studio or its publisher, Devolver Digital.

Quoted from Team Lazerbeam in Steam discussion: FAQs here!!, 10 September 2026

Put plainly, the answer rules nothing out and promises nothing either. A PS5 version would need its own announcement, and until one exists any PS5 release date you see online was not given by the developers.

Where a PS5 announcement would show up

The developers break their big news in Steam dev logs. The Early Access date arrived in a post titled for exactly that (see Steam announcement: Release Date Reveal! Shroom and Gloom Aug Dev Log!, 22 August 2026), and the launch itself in another (see Steam announcement: Shroom and Gloom explodes into Early Access!, 10 September 2026). A port would be the same kind of news. The updates page lists every post as it lands, and the Switch page has the other places to follow the studio.

Playing with a DualSense on PC

If the real question is whether you can keep your PS5 controller in hand, the answer is a qualified yes on a Windows PC. The Steam store page does not list controller support among the game’s features (see the Shroom and Gloom on the Steam store, 10 September 2026), but the developers say you can play with a controller right now, with gaps in the map and in reading door signs. Their posts about controllers don’t name any particular pad. The controller support page lays out who says what.

What a PS5 player can do today

  1. Check a PC or Mac against the specs. The minimum Windows graphics card is a GeForce GTX 960 class card; the full list is on system requirements.
  2. Play the free demo first. It is still on the Steam store page. The demo page explains how it differs from Early Access.
  3. Buy on Steam at $14.99 if it clicks. The store’s Early Access FAQ says there is no plan to change that price at full release.
  4. Prefer something that isn’t a desk? A Steam Deck runs the Steam version, with caveats covered on the Steam Deck page.
