Shroom and Gloom on Xbox and Game Pass

Xbox players end up here with one of two questions: can I play it on my console, or is it in my Game Pass library. Neither is possible yet, but a Windows PC with an Xbox controller gets you most of the way.

Game Pass

No Game Pass deal has been announced. For now it is a straight purchase, and the store page’s Early Access FAQ addresses the obvious worry about buying early: “No, we do not currently plan to adjust the price of the game between Early Access and Full Release.” From the Early Access section of the Shroom and Gloom on the Steam store, 10 September 2026 More on what you pay and when is on the price page.

Using an Xbox controller on PC

The store listing leaves both of Steam’s Xbox controller boxes, full and partial support, unticked. The developers say otherwise about the game itself: controllers work now, though you can open the map without being able to hover over its tunnels or rewards, and inspecting door signs is clunky. How those claims fit together is on the controller support page; if you plan to play with a pad, read it before buying.

When Windows thinks your keyboard is an Xbox controller

One bug belongs on an Xbox page because of how it shows up. Some players find their character walks forward on its own. Before launch, one player on the demo traced it to their keyboard: a Razer model that, in their words, “comes across as an xbox controller for Windows as well”, with the walking stopping when it was unplugged (in Steam discussion: Auto-Walk, 22 June 2026). After launch the developers said the problem seems tied to hardware, called it a top priority, and pointed players to a workaround for a different keyboard that Windows had registered as a game controller. The steps are on the controller support page.

So if you walk without touching anything, look for a device Windows counts as a controller before blaming the pad in your hand. And if your PC is on the edge of the specs, check the system requirements before you buy.
